I live in a one bedroom apartment in the south where the highs can get into the 100s several times during the summer.

I had heard that removing humidity can make the air feel cooler.  Would purchasing a dehumidifier have a significant decrease on my A/C usage?

Any comments or suggestions are appreciated.

maybe, but the problem will be that you are going to have to really keep an eye on the fill tank, it doesnt take long to fill it. i wouldn't say it would be significant, but thats how a/c's work is by dehumidifing.

There are room a/c's available that look like dehumidifiers. I think Tuesday Morning has them on sale now. They work for rooms up to 400 sqft.

Remember, an air conditioner is a dehumidified.  And I dont think a dehumidifier is any more efficient than your air conditioner, probably less!!

My guess is it will cost you money--dont buy.

Dehumidifers will warm the air around them as they do their job. The a/c sold at T.M. is free standing and cools the air as it removes moistur too. If it's power savings you want I can get you in touch with a site that sells a good one.
